My three-year-old daughter, Sadie, and I were riding in the car the other day, and I thought I would take the time to try and connect with her a little bit. As we were driving down the road I said to her,
“Sadie, you know what I think?“
“What daddy,” she asked.
“I think God is going to do really big things with you.”
We often tell Sadie that God has big plans for her life, and we pray with her every night that God would use her to change the world, so this wasn’t the first time she had heard me say something like this.
I could tell that her mind was working, and she was thinking about something, but I didn’t know what it was. After a few seconds she responded back to me and said,
“Dad, you mean when I grow up God will let me drive a car? And God will let me stay up later?”
I just laughed and said, “Yes baby, you can do those things when you grow up, but God wants you to do bigger things than just drive a car. Maybe God wants you to be a doctor, so you can make people feel better. Or, maybe God wants you to be a teacher so you can help people learn to read.”
She kind of smiled, and thinking a little more she said, “What about going to the movies? Can I do that when I get bigger?”
Our father has big plans for our lives. His plans for us are bigger than we can even imagine, and while we are dreaming about what we consider to be the biggest and greatest things that could happen, God is just kind of laughing, knowing that we aren’t thinking big enough yet.
The movement of God is always forward. We have been made to soar and to embrace our future as God sees it. Forwardleadership is designed to engage leaders who have tomorrow in their hearts. Thank you for visiting.
